My very good friend has the great (mis)fortune of being the subject of my first serious assignment after I bought the Canon 40D with Speedlite 580EX II. I will always remember Ray's words during EXPOSUREXPOSURE INTROSPECT course: "It's not the camera, but the eye for the decisive moment, that determines the greatness of the image."
Having said that, I must still say that a good flash with a good lens do go a long way in making your pictures better. This is my first attempt in using an external flash, and I must say that it's really challenging. As you can see, many of the pictures were not well exposed... and there are serious white-balance issues too...

Hi Xingyan,
Using an external flash is a totally different field on its own. Not only is it difficult to balance the light, it is also difficult to capture the actual mood of the scene. However, once this is being mastered, you will be able to capture many sweet moments with faster shutter speeds under an appropriate fill of man-made light.
I thought u did quite a good job in bringing out the happiness of the bride. : ) i didnt know that my flash was too harsh when i took some photos during your tea ceremony until ray points out too. =p
